New Name!
In February of 2009, the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne turned over operation of Our Lady of Good Counsel Home to Franciscan Health Community. As part of that transfer agreement, the Sisters requested that we change the name Our Lady of Good Counsel Home. After much thought and consideration, the name that we have chosen is:
Our Lady of Peace Home
Several factors went into the choosing of this name. One, we felt it was important to keep “Our Lady” in the name for a sense of our history. Secondly, a comment often heard from visitors to our facility is that they feel a real sense of “peace” as soon as they enter. Thus, we felt this name was a very appropriate selection.
This change will be effective June 1, 2011. We were honored to have been chosen by the Sisters to continue their long tradition of providing free end-of-life care to patients and their families. It is a mission that they started on December 7, 1941, and that we are able to continue today thanks to a tremendously generous donor community.
