MEET THE COMMUNITY
Our St. Paul Volunteer Opportunities
Franciscan Health Community offers a number of interesting and rewarding St. Paul volunteer opportunities. We believe that volunteers are a central part of our mission that enriches and provides the essential ingredients to our programs. In order to do this, we make it as easy as possible for our St. Paul volunteers to feel comfortable in their role. Finding the right volunteer opportunities and hours to fit most schedules and interests, as well as training, ensures a smooth transition into this role. Whether it is volunteering with a friend, family, a group or on your own, your presence and interest will greatly enrich the lives of the older adults we serve. Here are just a few of our St. Paul volunteer opportunities:
Volunteer Drivers
Deliver hot noon meals to people that live in the Macalester West 7th Street area in St. Paul. Drive people to their doctor appointments for the Highland Block Nurse Program. Drive Adult Day Service participants home at the end of the day using the facility bus. Drive apartment tenants on shopping outings with facility bus.
Activity Assistant
Assist with activities at St. Mary's Home, and/or St. Mary's Adult Day Services. Help with bingo, table games, craft groups, reading, special events, baking, and much, much more!
Chapel Assistant
Work with our Pastoral Care department to transport residents to and from daily Mass at our facility. Invited to be Readers and serve as Eucharistic Ministers. Set up for mass and distribute communion to residents who cannot attend mass.
One to One Programming
Visit one on one with our many interesting people. Paint nails, read to someone, play cards or interview for social history information. Do friendly visits through the Block Nurse Program, with people that are still in their homes.
Office Assistant
Assist with some light filing, mailing and or copying in our business office, physical therapy department or medical records department. Flexible daytime hours.
